Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of 21st Century Fox and its channels Fox News and Fox Business Network, announced Wednesday that Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine have signed new long-term contracts, the AP reports.
The veteran Fox News executives were appointed by Murdoch last month as co-presidents of Fox News Channel to fill the void left by the abrupt departure in July of Roger Ailes. The longtime FNC chief exited the channel under pressure after being sued for sexual harassment.
Murdoch is quoted saying the new contracts will ensure “stability and leadership to help guide the network for years to come.” The duration of the contracts has not been revealed.
“Shine, who had been one of Ailes’ top deputies, now runs editorial operations for Fox News and Fox Business Network,” the AP notes. “Abernethy runs Fox’s stable of 28 local stations while overseeing business operations for the two networks. Both report to Murdoch.”
