Kelly Ripa teased what she called a “big announcement” on Tuesday’s season premiere of her daytime show “Live with Kelly,” and this morning the news was revealed.
But instead of the widely anticipated announcement of the replacement for Michael Strahan as Ripa’s permanent co-host, Ripa revealed that a lucky fan of the show will get a chance to guest co-host.
Viewers who want the gig have until Sept. 20 to apply on the show’s website or on its Facebook page.
Ripa noted that she has read on social media that some viewers think her job is easy. “Now it’s time to put your mouths where your thumbs are,” she said, adding: “I’m building a co-host empire.”
Ripa was recently named as an executive producer on the show, as we reported previously. Strahan, meanwhile, is settling in this week to his new job on “Good Morning America.”
