With the Super Bowl going into overtime, Fox was forced to delay the premiere of “24: Legacy,” which was scheduled to lead out from the big game. But the premiere, which aired from 11 p.m.-midnight ET and 8-9 p.m. PT, still delivered big numbers.

Fox announced that the program averaged 17.6 million total viewers, making it the most-watched episode in the history of the “24” franchise. The premiere also delivered a 6.1 average rating in the key demo of adults 18-49.

Fox noted that it was broadcast TV’s highest-rated series premiere in the 18-49 demo since CBS’s “2 Broke Girls” pulled a 7.1 average in 2011, and “24: Legacy” was the highest-rated broadcast entertainment telecast of the current season.
