A new TV project from Greg Berlanti, the prolific producer behind superhero series including “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” has received a pilot order from the CW.

EW.com reports that the network ordered a pilot for “Black Lightning,” from Berlanti along with Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil.

“Black Lightning, created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden in 1977, is one of DC Comics’ first major African-American superheroes,” EW notes.

The report quotes the logline for the project reading: “Jefferson Pierce made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.”

  1. How about Green Lantern, while you’re at it?

Seriously. He’d do it proud. Just because the movie was weak, doesn’t mean the character is. Berlanti could have an hour every night of the week and 2 on Monday!
