Oscar Winner to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

NBC announced that the host for the next original episode of “Saturday Night Live,” which will air March 4, will be actress Octavia Spencer.

Spencer is an Academy Award winner for the 2011 film “The Help,” and is nominated again this year for “Hidden Figures.” She also won a Golden Globe for “The Help.”

Spencer has appeared in films including “Fruitvale Station,” “Get on Up,” “The Divergent Series: Insurgent” and “Zootopia.” On TV she starred in Fox’s “Red Band Society” and has a recurring role on CBS’s “Mom.”

NBC has not yet announced who the musical guest will be for the March 4 “SNL.”
