Alec Baldwin Co-Writing a Book as Trump

It has come to this: Alec Baldwin, who parodies Donald Trump regularly on “Saturday Night Live,” is expanding on that franchise with a book, which he is co-writing with Spy magazine co-founder Kurt Andersen. The Los Angeles Times reports that the book, “You Can’t Spell America Without ME,” is a parody written as Donald J. Trump.

The book carries the subtitle “The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump,” and will be published in November by Penguin Press.

“Baldwin told the New York Times that he’ll leave the heavy lifting to Andersen, whose Spy magazine lampooned Trump throughout the 1980s, long before he sought the presidency,” the L.A. Times notes.

Baldwin reportedly said: “I think it’s fair to say that Kurt will do most of the writing. We have that arrangement whereby he doesn’t put on the wig, I don’t open up a Word document.”

  1. Making the First Family the focus of humor was the well crafted, gentile and good hearted work of Vaughn Meader who entertained the entire country with his humor and parody of President John Kennedy and his family. Republicans and Democrats alike found the humor bright, extremely funny and honest. The work of Mr. Baldwin is anything but that. It is mean spirited, partizan, insulting, dishonest and just plain stupid! There is no sophistication or cleverness and the goal is obviously to demean the President and attempt to interfere with his work for all Americans. Democrat liberals still can’t deal with the fact their flawed candidate did a poor job campaigning, carried too much corruption in her background and lost a legitimate election. They need to blame anyone and everyone except their candidate! Remember that it was not just Hillary’s loss but essentially all the governors and their administrations as well as congress. The country rejected Obama and Hillary and Mr. Baldwin and his minions need counseling from competent psychologists to help them come to grips with reality.

    • A few things:

      1. This should not “interfere” with Trump’s “work for all Americans” (by the way, I’m laughing inside about “all Americans”). Trump allows the work of Baldwin and others (SNL, etc.) to interfere by paying too much attention to it instead of paying attention to his job. A real president doesn’t get worked up about jokes made at his expense and then whine about it on Twitter. To use the language of your people: Trump is the King of Snowflakes.

      2. Democrats/liberals making fun of Trump has nothing to do with Hillary losing the election. It’s about Trump being a terrible President (so far). Are you saying that because Trump beat Hillary, people who voted for Hillary should not be allowed to criticize him? Were the 8 years of Republicans endlessly complaining about Obama simply an emotional reaction to McCain and Romney losing?

      3. Speaking of McCain and Romney losing…clearly the country did not “reject” Obama. And in terms of the straight count of votes, more people rejected Trump than Hillary.
