Will One of Hollywood’s Top Executives Run for President in 2020?

Running the most successful media company in the world may not be the career peak for Bob Iger. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Disney CEO is contemplating a run for president in 2020.

“Sources say Iger has told friends he is considering their nudges that he make a run for president in 2020 as a Democrat,” THR reports, adding: “There’s a hitch. Any political future would hinge on Iger, 66, finding a Disney successor, of course. (Complicating matters, in February, he told financial analysts he would be ‘open’ to remaining as CEO after his contract ends in June 2018.)”

Iger is quoted telling the publication last June that “a lot of people — a lot — have urged me to seek political office.” He reportedly said at the time that he wasn’t interested in a run for California governor or senator.

THR cites sources saying that since that time Iger has consulted with former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg about making the move from the board room to political office.

  1. He better hurry as Mark Cuban is already lining up donors and endorsements.

  2. Next Disney CEO will be Sheryl Sandberg, but Anne Sweeney may steal the gig having out maneuvered Jay & Tom.
