A new series executive produced by Katie Couric premieres next month, but viewers who mainly identify the TV news veteran with her roles with NBC News (1989-2006), CBS News (2006-2011) and ABC News (2011-2014) may have trouble recognizing the new project.

The new series is “Scraps,” a culinary show bowing May 21 on FYI. The 10-episode project is being produced as part of a partnership between FYI and Sur La Table. Couric is involved through her Katie Couric Media.

The show will feature Sur La Table Chef Joel Gamoran traveling across the U.S., using food waste and scraps to create feasts in unexpected locations.

Said Couric: “Food waste is such a huge problem in this country and more and more people want to do something about it. I’m so excited for Chef Joel Gamoran to introduce viewers to wonderful places and delicious recipes using ingredients we never imagined could taste so good. Joel’s energy and enthusiasm are infectious.”
