Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef behind Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Kitchen Nightmares” and “Hotel Hell,” BBC America’s “The F Word” and other programs, said in an interview with the U.K. publication The Telegraph he won’t be leaving his fortune to his children.
Ramsay, who is reportedly worth about $140 million, told the publication: “It’s definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them. The only thing I’ve agreed with [wife] Tana is they get a 25% deposit on a flat, but not the whole flat.”
Ramsay also told The Telegraph: “I’ve never been really turned on about the money. That’s not my number one objective, and that’s reflected in the way the kids are brought up.”
The report adds that Ramsay “is raising his four children in the same strict, no-nonsense style in which he runs his kitchens. Though it’s perhaps somewhat unexpected to learn that they are rarely allowed to eat in his restaurants.”
What a horrible father. How terrible that you would also humiliate your children for your own gratification and self worth.
Let them earn it just like their father had to.
As much as I want to believe that his on-air persona differs from his real life, it appears he is an assholian all the way around.
There are some things that don’t need to be bragged about to the media. Wonder who will get his fortune? If he’s looking for somewhere to leave his money, other than to his kids, The Telegraph should have given us his address so we could apply.
Just because someone makes a lot of money does not mean their children have a right to inherit it. Maybe his kids will actually get the money. He could be saying that so so they will be motivated to take care of themselves and not laze around counting the days till they get he’s money.
