ABC has given a two-year renewal to its signature sitcom that’s been on-air for eight seasons already. “Modern Family,” which is produced by 20th TV for ABC, has been renewed for seasons nine and ten.

“The 10 stars of the five-time Emmy-winning family series have inked new rich contracts to return to the network’s top comedy, which has been renewed for a ninth and 10th season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned,” reports THR’s Lesley Goldberg.

Goldberg adds this from ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey: “‘Modern Family’ has been the centerpiece of our comedy brand for eight seasons and we are thrilled to have it on our schedule for two more years.”

  1. It will probably be the last two seasons – ABC just hasn’t announced that part yet

  2. It will follow the road of The Big Bang Theory on CBS. Renewed for three more years last year to take it past ten years that show is already spiraling downward in the ratings. It’s just impossible to keep the story line strong and funny that long.
