The Disney live-action feature “Beauty and the Beast” and the Netflix series “Stranger Things” won the two top honors at Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, as each claimed two major awards.
The 26th edition of the awards, presented at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, combined movies and television for the first time. “Stranger Things” won Show of the Year, with Millie Bobby Brown named Best Actor in a Show for her breakout role in the Netflix series.
“Beauty and the Beast” was named Movie of the Year, with its star Emma Watson honored as Best Actor in a Movie.
In other major TV honors, Trevor Noah of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” was named Best Host, Jeffrey Dean Morgan of “The Walking Dead” won Best Villain and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” claimed Best Reality Competition.
