NBC Renews a Whole Drama Franchise All at Once — But What’s Up With the One Show That Was Left Out?

We have to wonder whether one show in a successful NBC drama franchise might be feeling a little left out. The network handed out a bulk renewal for most of the “Chicago” franchise, picking up new seasons of “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med.”

TVLine reports that for “Fire,” the series that launched the franchise — and marked its 100th episode back in December — the renewal means the show will get a sixth season. “P.D.” was renewed for season five and “Med” gets a third season.

But that leaves the new kid on the block, “Chicago Justice,” as the only member of the club still waiting to hear its fate. “Justice,” which premiered in March, is set to air its 13th episode this Sunday.

The most recent episode of “Justice,” which aired May 7, delivered 5.35 million total viewers and a 1.0 average rating in the key 18-49 demo in Nielsen Live+Same Day. The Dick Wolf legal drama stars Philip Winchester, Jon Seda, Joelle Carter, Monica Barbaro and Carl Weathers.
