Canceled Series Roars Back to Life for One Last Hurrah

A series whose cancellation sent shock waves through the show’s loyal fan base will return after all — but only for one two-hour final episode.

The show is the Netflix series “Sense8.” The show’s co-creator Lana Wachowski sent out a letter to fans today announcing that “improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought ‘Sense8’ back to life. (I could kiss every single one of you!)”

Netflix, which announced earlier this month that the series would not be back for a third season, confirmed that a two-hour finale is in the works for next year.

The complex show posed logistical and financial obstacles for Netflix. In the letter to fans, Wachowski says of the streaming service, “believe me, they love the show as much as we do but the numbers have always been challenging.”

Wachowski adds: “The passionate letters, the petitions, the collective voice that rose up like the fist of Sun to fight for this show was beyond what anyone was expecting.”
