An acclaimed science fiction series just made a casting announcement and took the wraps off a new trailer as it closes in on its third season.

The show is Syfy’s “The Expanse,” which announced over the weekend that Elizabeth Mitchell of “Lost” will join the series in a recurring role in season three, playing a character who “brings a new, spiritual perspective to the series.”

“The Expanse” has been called the “best science fiction show in a decade” by NPR. Season three is on track to launch on Syfy in 2018.
