The jackpot for the next Powerball drawing is surging, after Wednesday’s drawing failed to produce a winner. CNBC reports that the jackpot has topped $510 million and stands as the fifth largest in the game’s history and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history.
The most recent big jackpot awarded in Powerball was $447.8 million, which was won by a single participant in California earlier this summer, the report notes.
The next drawing is set for 10:59 p.m. ET this Saturday.
The report notes that the winner of a $510 million jackpot would be able to take a $324.2 million lump sum payment, which would be hit up front with about $81 million in federal tax withholding, along with state taxes of as much as $28.6 million.
