A groundswell has been building among athletes, entertainers and others who have been going public with their view that the Earth is flat. Now one of the Flat Earthers, rapper B.o.B, has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to send satellites into space to independently verify the shape of the Earth.

B.o.B was reportedly hoping to raise $200,000, although the goal published on the campaign’s webpage is $1 million. When we checked on the page Tuesday afternoon, it had raised $1,946 in five days, from 58 donors.

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has already taken his shot at convincing B.o.B that the Earth is round, engaging him on Twitter and providing a number of arguments, including: “It’s a fundamental fact of calculus and non-Euclidean geometry: Small sections of large curved surfaces will always look flat to little creatures that crawl upon it … And by the way, this is called gravity.”

Tyson’s arguments earned a rebuke from B.o.B in ther form of a diss track, “Flatline,” which in turn prompted a diss track from Tyson and his rapper nephew, Stephen, titled “Flat to Fact.”

Other celebrities who have shown Flat Earth leanings include Kyrie Irving, Tila Tequila and Sammy Watkins.

B.o.B is calling his satellite campaign “Show BoB The Curve.”

  1. I have no words. Is he that ignorant that he feels the earth is flat ! Hope he doesn’t fall off !

  2. Thank god for Betsy DeVos and her efforts to enhance American education. I’m being sarcastic; this is where our educational system is headed, and soon. On the other hand, the president of the Flat Earth Society was once quoted as saying, “We’re international. We have members around the globe.”

  3. That 24-hour “NASA TV” channel that’s reportedly able on cable and satellite would be glad to show the non-believers extended video from the shuttle and/or International Space Station that /may/ help them understand… buuuuut, first they’ve got to get them to a TV that can actually tune it… dL
