An upcoming TV documentary promises to give viewers a different impression of the familiar character Apu from the long-running Fox animated sitcom “The Simpsons.”

truTV announced today that “The Problem With Apu” will premiere Nov. 19. In the hour-long film, creator and star Hari Kondabolu, a South Asian-American comedian, confronts his long-standing “nemesis,” Apu Nahasapeemapetilon — better known as the Indian convenience store owner on “The Simpsons.”

The doc delves into Kondabolu’s personal struggle with Apu while also dealing with broader issues about minority media representation and stereotyping.

The project features interviews with Aziz Ansari, Kal Penn, Whoopi Goldberg, W. Kamau Bell, Aasif Mandvi, Hasan Minhaj, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Aparna Nancherla and others.
