CBS Corp. and the Association of National Advertisers announced a new multi-pronged partnership today through which they are supporting the #SeeHer initiative.
The initiative’s mission to accurately portray girls and women in media, with the goal that by 2020 women and girls will be able to see themselves reflected as they truly are.
“This is a strong alliance that will use our many forms of media to generate awareness, education and hopefully change on a very important issue,” said Jo Ann Ross, President and Chief Advertising Revenue Officer for CBS Corp. “In line with #SeeHer’s theme, ‘if you can see her, you can be her,’ we are passionate about showcasing respectful, authentic and powerful depictions of women and girls as we continue to promote diversity and inclusion through our programming.”
Working with #SeeHer, CBS will deliver on-air, online and behind-the-scenes opportunities to promote the initiative’s mission, the company said in today’s announcement.
Among the immediate elements being implemented at CBS are a #SeeHer-branded segment on CBS Sports Network’s “We Need to Talk,” discussion of #SeeHer on CBS Daytime’s “The Talk” and CBS Primetime initiatives including PSAs and meetings between #SeeHer executives and showrunners on CBS prime-time programs.
