A comedian who has made his living flinging insults at other celebrities — mostly in good fun — will put on a different hat when he examines the immigration issue in an upcoming special. Comedy Central announced plans today for “Jeff Ross Roasts the Border: Live From Brownsville, Texas,” a one-hour docu-comedy special premiering Thursday, Nov. 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
“In this part stand-up, part documentary special, Ross unpacks, breaks down and tears apart our simmering immigration debate through stand-up, roasting and field segments from the US/Mexican border,” Comedy Central says in today’s announcement.
Ross is an actor, writer, director, producer and comedian who may be best known for his work as “Roastmaster General” of the “Comedy Central Roast” franchise. He recently executive produced and starred in the investigative stand-up special “Jeff Ross Roast Cops.”
His other recent projects have included “Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle” on Comedy Central and, in 2015, the special “Jeff Ross Roasts Criminals: Live at Brazos County Jail,” which he starred in and executive produced.
