An overdose is suspected in the death of a 38-year-old man who was a longtime cast member on the Discovery Channel docuseries “Storm Chasers.” TMZ reports that Joel Taylor, a diver and meteorologist, was found unresponsive Tuesday in his cabin aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Harmony of the Seas.

The report cites passengers on the cruise ship who said drugs were plentiful aboard the party boat, and Taylor was partaking. The report mentions ecstasy and cocaine.

TMZ quotes law enforcement sources saying: “It appears the death could be an overdose and Joel Taylor was consuming controlled substances.”

TMZ adds: “A passenger who interacted with Joel tells TMZ, Joel had consumed enough GHB on the dance floor Tuesday that he was rendered unconscious and taken off the dance floor by 2 people and back to his room.”

Taylor can be seen in a black T-shirt in the clip below from 2009 …

  1. Doing drugs is a bad long term investment.

  2. I’m disgusted that TV Week is also using TMZ as if they were a respectable source.
