Three New Docuseries Greenlighted, Spotlighting a Hot TV Genre

The announcement today about green lights for three new docuseries emphasizes the hot TV genre of true crime. SundanceTV rolled out plans for its new entries in the genre, “The Road to Jonestown” (working title), “Ministry of Evil: the Twisted Cult of Tony Alamo” and “The Preppie Murder” (working title).

“The Road to Jonestown” will be timed to air around the 40th anniversary of the Jonestown massacre, this November. The project comes from executive producers Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson of Appian Way and executive producer Stephen David.

“Ministry of Evil” is in production with Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Peacock Productions. “The Preppie Murder” begins pre-production with producer Robert Friedman and Bungalow Media + Entertainment, along with the original prosecutor in the case, Linda Fairstein.
