Alec Baldwin to Host Talk Show

Alec Baldwin has a new talk show on one of the major broadcast networks. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that ABC will air the pilot episode of “Sundays with Alec Baldwin” leading out from this Sunday’s Oscars telecast.

The network has reportedly ordered eight additional episodes of the one-hour show, which THR says will be modeled after the interviews Baldwin has been doing for years on his WNYC podcast.

“The first episode, which is being billed as a sneak peek rather than a season premiere, will feature in-depth interviews with Baldwin’s longtime friend Jerry Seinfeld and ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast member Kate McKinnon,” THR reports. “Rather than turn up to shill a new film or TV show, both guests sat with Baldwin for wide-ranging conversations that touch on topics ranging from the state of comedy in the current political climate to their lives and experiences pre- and post-fame.”

Baldwin said in a statement released today: “I’m excited about this show and grateful to ABC for taking a chance on me in what is, admittedly, a crowded field. I’ve enjoyed doing my podcast for WNYC and look forward to the challenge of doing a show on camera.”

  1. Love Baldwin

  2. New Title: ‘UNWATCHABLE”

  3. Oh Geez, no. But, I hope it’s on during the day; I’ll be working and miss it. He’s terrible as the host of the new Match Game (which I accidentally caught twice) and I can’t imagine him improving enough for a sustained show as host. Hell, even Harry Connick’s show failed.
