The TV company that bills itself as “America’s only arts network” just landed a big package of programming, with Ovation announcing a licensing deal today for more than 65 hours of multi-genre Banijay content.

“The high-volume deal sees two seasons of Story Vault Films’ ‘Portrait Artist of the Year’ and two seasons of ‘Landscape Artist of the Year,’ both originally produced for Sky Arts in the UK, making their US debut,” Ovation announced. “The long-running competitions, which whittle down the nation’s most gifted painters to find the country’s most talented portrait and landscape artists, have rated highly in the UK, with ‘Portrait Artist of the Year’ becoming the most-watched program ever for Sky Arts, delivering five times the slot average, and ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’ attracting 60% above the channel’s slot average.”

Ovation also obtained the rights to IWC Media and Group M Entertainment’s “Fake: The Great Masterpiece Challenge” (8 x 1 hour, Sky Arts).

From Banijay Rights’ scripted portfolio, Ovation acquired the original action-adventure procedural crime drama “The Pinkertons” (22 x 45′), produced by Rosetta Media and Buffalo Gal Pictures.

  1. Someone should develop a show where painters show off their singing skills and singers demonstrate their painting skills, all while remodeling a Master Bath. You can sing in the shower and paint murals on the walls.
