This year’s NBA playoffs will have a new high-profile analyst breaking down the action on “Detail,” a 15-episode series built around Kobe Bryant. The five-time champion, who played his entire 20-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring at the end of the 2015-2016 season, is the creator, writer and host of the new program.

The show, from ESPN and Bryant’s Granity Studios, is set to premiere next Thursday, April 12, on ESPN+. It will run throughout the playoffs and the NBA Finals.

“The special premiere edition of ‘Detail’ (April 12) will feature Bryant breaking down one of the best games of his storied career — 2009 Western Conference Finals Game 6 — where his Lakers clinched their second consecutive NBA Finals berth by eliminating the Denver Nuggets,” ESPN notes in today’s announcement.

The show’s second episode will be available on ESPN+ on Sunday, April 15, following a Round 1 Game 1 matchup in the NBA playoffs.

“Bryant will deliver multiple episodes of ‘Detail’ during the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs, leading into a heavier schedule of shows during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals (three) and the NBA Finals (up to seven),” ESPN noted in today’s announcement. A more complete schedule will be provided soon.

ESPN+ is the new direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International in partnership with ESPN. Launching April 12, it will be available as an integrated part of a redesigned and reimagined ESPN App.

Segments from “Detail” will air on “Get Up!,” “SportsCenter,” “The Jump,” “NBA Countdown,” and across ESPN’s digital and social media platforms.
