A former TV producer who worked on “Jerry Springer” and had a long run as an executive producer on “Family Court with Judge Penny” appeared in court Monday after being accused of drugging and killing her sister.

Jill Blackstone had her arraignment postponed until Thursday, when she is expected to enter a plea.

Blackstone “allegedly drugged her sister, Wendy Blackstone, in March 2015, and put her in the garage of their North Hollywood home along with their three dogs, the Los Angeles Police Department said,” ABC News reports. “Jill Blackstone then allegedly set the garage on fire, killing Wendy Blackstone and two of the dogs, police said.”

Jill Blackstone’s attorney, Daniel Davis, called it a “horrific, tragic accident.”

Blackstone was originally arrested in 2015 on suspicion of murdering her sister, but prosecutors did not file charges at the time and she was released two days later.

Police are saying she staged the crime to make it look like an accident.

Said Davis: “That garage … involved ingesting carbon monoxide while barbecuing food for her and her sister.” He added that it’s a “horrific, tragic accident that is not that uncommon.”

“Last month, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed murder and animal cruelty charges and issued a warrant for Jill Blackstone, who is now 55 years old,” ABC News reports. “She was taken into custody in Baltimore this month and extradited to California.”
