Actress Leah Remini has been going after Scientology in her Emmy-winning A&E series “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,” but according to The Hollywood Reporter, she is shifting her focus, at least temporarily.
The report cites sources saying Remini will produce a special for the cable channel focusing on Jehovah’s Witnesses, to air during a break following season three of the Scientology show.
“The religion, while based on biblical teachings, has come under fire for some practices such as ousting or shunning members who have dissenting views, refusing to participate in politics or government, not celebrating birthdays or Christmas and for multiple predictions of Armageddon that have yet to come true,” THR reports.
The report adds: “The Remini-backed project is the first to come under the first-look production pact the actress and producer signed with A&E to develop unscripted projects for the cable network.”
