Richard Gere Returns to TV After Almost 30 Years

Actor Richard Gere will be returning to TV after a long absence, with Variety reporting that he will play a media baron in the BBC drama “MotherFatherSon.” The role marks his return to TV after almost three decades.

Gere is quoted in thre report saying: “It’s been almost 30 years since I worked in television. I’m so pleased to be working now with the BBC on this extraordinary eight-hour project with such talented people and which resonates so much [with] the time we live in.”

“His character in the BBC Two series, Max, is a charismatic self-made American businessman who owns media outlets in London and around the world,” Variety notes. Also in the cast are Helen McCrory (“Peaky Blinders,” Harry Potter films) and Billy Howle (“On Chesil Beach”).
