Simon Cowell, one of the original “American Idol” judges and one of the primary driving forces behind the show’s wildly successful early years on Fox, says he’s not interested in the new ABC reboot of the singing competition.
Cowell, who was interviewed along with fellow “America’s Got Talent” judge Mel B by The Hollywood Reporter, told the publication: “I’m genuinely not interested. I think when we were on it years ago, it was a fun show. It was different, it was kind of naïve, lots of surprises. … I kind of think we’ve been there, I’ve been there, time for something new.”
Since leaving “Idol” in 2010, Cowell has focused on other projects, including “The X Factor” and “America’s Got Talent.”
