Star of TV’s ‘Supergirl,’ Melissa Benoist, Sets Broadway Debut

Melissa Benoist, who stars as “Supergirl” on the CW series — and who played Marley Rose on Fox’s ‘Glee’ —will star beginning next month as the lead of ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,’ which will mark her Broadway debut,” reports Patrick Hipes for Deadline.

The story adds, “Jessie Mueller originally played King and won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.”

Benoist will play the part from June 7 to August 4. She replaces Chilina Kennedy, who currently plays the role of Carole King. Kennedy will return to the show after Benoist leaves in August.
