Executive Shakeup Looms at Disney/ABC TV Group

Disney is set to overhaul the executive lineup at Disney/ABC Television Group as the company moves toward closing its acquisition of the 21st Century Fox entertainment assets, Variety reports.

“21st Century Fox President Peter Rice and Fox Television Group Chairman Dana Walden are slated to relocate to Disney in senior posts overseeing TV operations,” Variety reports. “Current Disney/ABC TV Group President Ben Sherwood is expected to transition to a new role at Disney, although the specifics of that role are still unclear.”

The report notes that Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has for the past few weeks been working on a management plan for the Disney/ABC TV Group, which will be expanded with the close of the Fox deal.

As we reported separately, Comcast today dropped out of the bidding for the Fox assets, clearing the way for Disney to close the deal.

“A source close to the situation cautioned that Rice and Walden have yet to formally close employment deals with Disney, but the talks have been ongoing for some time,” Variety notes.

  1. Dear ABC,
Please explain to me why Rosanne could be fired and an entire show cancelled for one comment, but its Ok for Whoopi Goldberg to throw one of your guests off the stage and chase Judge Janine out of the building while screaming Get the F out of here! Sure looks like you have an AMAZING double standard. I am almost done with ABC completely.get your house in order or you will watch your ratings drop rapidly. Whoopi and Joyce Behar need to be fired!
