A TV tribute to Burt Reynolds, who died this week at age 82 after suffering cardiac arrest, will focus on his performance as blacksmith Quint Asper on “Gunsmoke.”

MeTV announced plans today to air six Quint-focused episodes of the long-running TV Western next week, one a night, Sept. 10-15. Reynolds played the role in 50 episodes of the series, from 1962-1965.

  1. Weigel’s Me-TV is milking the good name of Burt Reynolds to promote their tired roster of programming from the distant past … they built a family of new multicast TV channels all featuring old and burned out TV programs like “Rifleman” and “MASH” yet do not have the skill or talent to try something new in programming content and activity … which is the benchmark and challenge of today’s true pioneers of modern television … Maybe they will launch a TV channel for new programs and new producers someday (probably not) …
