Report: Megyn Kelly Is Out at NBC’s ‘Today’

Megyn Kelly may not be returning to her spot on NBC’s “Today” show, according to a new report citing sources who are familiar with internal negotiations at the network.

“Talk of her exiting the 9 a.m. hour of the ‘Today’ show began earlier this week after she made controversial comments suggesting wearing blackface in a Halloween costume was not controversial,” The Washington Examiner reports. “Kelly apologized for her comments and did not appear in the third hour of ‘Today’ on Thursday.”

The report cites a story by The Washington Post, which is behind a paywall. The Post’s sources reportedly said Kelly’s show will cease to air, but Kelly will still make $69 million in her three-year contract with NBC for an “undefined role.”

Kelly was struggling to deliver viewers to the hour even before the “blackface” incident.

“Six current and former NBC employees told the Post that many of Kelly’s co-workers had grown envious of her salary and were upset with her on-air blunders and low ratings,” The Examiner reports.

An NBC staffer is quoted saying: “Everyone’s feeling is, even if you have to pay her [the remainder of her contract], pay her. Andy, you can save face with this entire thing. Just get rid of her.”

The reference is to NBC News Chairman Andy Lack, who convinced Kelly in 2017 to join NBC from Fox News. “Sources say their relationship has become strained,” The Examiner notes.

  1. Send her back to Fox. She’ll feel at home spewing more lies.

  2. Ridiculousness. And Jack’s job is on the line so this “offense” from a strong WHITE WOMAN is just intolerable. Meanwhile, Joy Reid gets to keep her job for actually making hateful comments. Sorry, my brothers and sisters. You cannot have things both ways. You bet that NBC will keep paying Megyn so that she does not tell all that she knows about Lack’ support of Lauer, etc.

  3. Jack’s job

  4. Hack
