Update on a Possible ‘Frasier’ Reboot

Nov 5, 2018  •  Post A Comment

Over the weekend Kelsey Grammer explained the primary hold-up preventing a reboot of his NBC sitcom “Frasier.”

Writes Deadline, “‘[T]here’s been no premise that has come along that has the necessary fire,’ Grammer said about the potential ‘Frasier’ reboot that was first reported by Deadline in July. Grammer has been spearheading the effort at CBS TV Studios, meeting with potential writers.”

The Deadline story also quotes Grammer, speaking during a panel session at a USC Comedy Festival Saturday in Los Angeles, saying, “A lot of us are quite committed to the concept that you would never try to redo what we once had.” The panel also included “Frasier” co-stars David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin, co-creators/executive producers Peter Casey and David Lee, director and executive producer James Burrows and writer/producers Anne Flett and Joe Keenan.

  1. Forget Fraiser, Kelsey…bring back “Back to You,” a short-lived, hilarious show killed by the writer’s strike.

  2. Frasier was my favorite show. I still love watching it
It was that show that started my love affair with Seattle.
I left California and moved to Seattle!
I was so sad when John Mahoney died. All are creative geniuses made for the roles they played.
I will be standing by to see what they come up with
I cant imagine Frasier out of Seattle. My favorite was when Daphnie colored Dad’s hair and the color ozzed off onto the furniture at Nile’s party!!! I still laugh at that one.Hilarious!

  3. Or the one where Martin gets stoned..

  4. The best one was season 6, episode 14, where Niles starts the fire while trying to iron out a crease in his pants. Plus many, many, many other ones. Still watch a few episodes every week.

  5. I just can’t picture a revival without John Mahoney.

  6. Frasier started out at a bar in Boston, moved to Seattle to be closer to his family, and now should show us his third act. He shouldn’t reboot, he should just continue onto the next stage of his life- sonething totally different. No Nyles, no Daphne. Maybe that dog.

  7. Frasier was a gem in a genre where few sitcoms can be called Brilliant. The confluence Of acting, writing and producing talent was not dumb luck. The show set a high bar. Let it stand. But. If they can find a compelling concept for a reboot – and a few gifted hair and makeup artists – then Ler Er Rip! Lightning rarely strikes twice when it comes to sitcom reboots but I’d sure like to see it happen.

  8. Thank you for the updates.
