One outlet that has been carving out a family-friendly niche when it comes to New Year’s Eve programming is Netflix. The streaming service announced plans today to again stake a claim to the demographic with a batch of tween content countdowns.
“For the last five years, an average of 5 million families have chosen to tune into the Netflix New Year’s Eve countdowns and according to new research from Netflix, 77% of U.S. parents actually prefer to stay in than go out for the biggest bash of the year,” Netflix said in the announcement.
The streamer has 14 New Year’s Eve countdowns on tap for this year, starting Dec. 26.
“This new batch of tween content countdowns reflects Netflix’s overall investment in the genre, with the recently announced sitcoms ‘No Good Nick,’ ‘Family Reunion’ as well as the latest addition to the catalogue, ‘Prince of Peoria,’ and the upcoming comedy ‘Malibu Rescue,'” Netflix said.
Other 2019 countdowns will feature “Alexa and Katie,” “Pinky Malinky,” “Motown Magic,” “Skylanders Academy,” “Boss Baby” and other programs.
