Here’s What Ken Burns’ Next Big PBS Documentary Will Be About

PBS unveiled plans Friday for an eight-part, 16-hour documentary from Ken Burns focusing on the history of country music. The project will premiere Sept. 15, 2019. The broadcast will be preceded by a 30-city national tour and a multi-artist concert March 27 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

The documentary, “Country Music,” is directed by Ken Burns, and produced by Burns and his longtime collaborators Dayton Duncan and Julie Dunfey.

The first four episodes will stream on station-branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org and PBS apps, timed to the Sept. 15 premiere, with the next four timed to the broadcast of Episode 5 on Sunday, Sept. 22.
