The longtime executive producer of “Access Hollywood” is leaving the show, and will be replaced by Maureen FitzPatrick from “Hot Bench,” Variety reports. Rob Silverstein is out after 20 years overseeing the syndication franchise, the publication reports.
“Silverstein’s departure was announced Tuesday morning at a staff meeting for ‘Access’ producers,” Variety reports. “Silverstein was also exec producer of the hourlong talk show ‘Access Live,’ hosted by Kit Hoover and Natalie Morales, and the hourlong weekend edition of ‘Access.’”
The report quotes a note to “Access” staffers from Silverstein in which he acknowledges that his “vision of the show moving forward differs from the management team, so we have agreed today will be my final day as EP.”
Variety adds: “FitzPatrick came into the NBCUniversal fold last year and had been working as a consultant on the ‘Access’ shows. NBC execs felt the time was right to bring in a fresh perspective on the series and evolve the format. Silverstein will continue to work on projects through his first-look production pact with NBCUniversal. The fact that the transition happened abruptly in the middle of the week raised some eyebrows.”
For awhile Silverstein hosted a segment on the show. It was bad.

I feel what they have done to Access Hollywood is a joke..Why not let a good thing alone..Natalie Morales added class and some brightness to the show.. Now it’s just another silly poorly done show..You have lost a viewer..It’s very sad what is happening to TV..Who’s next Kit Hoover??
