Donald Trump has been going after late-night television for a couple of days now on his Twitter page, and at least one late-night host is firing back.
Trump sent out a tweet Thursday saying: “The three very weak and untalented late night ‘hosts’ are ‘fighting over table scraps. Carson did a great job, it wasn’t political. I don’t know what they’re going to do in 2024 when he’s no longer President? Will be wacky in the unemployment line.’” The tweet quotes Mark Loftus on “Fox and Friends.”
Stephen Colbert fired back on CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” pointing out that there are at least 10 “weak and untalented” hosts on late-night television, not just three.
Colbert also said that after Trump is no longer president, late-night shows will go on. Addressing Trump, he added: “Just watch and see — if the warden gives you TV privileges.”
