The ABC Network has decided to pull the plug on one of its prime-time dramas, with Variety reporting that the Shondaland series “For the People” will not return for a third season.

“The legal drama was canceled by the Alphabet network, cutting the Shondaland series with homes on broadcast television down to three (‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘How to Get Away With Murder’ and ‘Station 19’ …),” Variety reports. In separate news today, ABC renewed all three of those programs.

The report notes that “For the People” averaged almost 3 million total live viewers and a 0.51 in the 18-49 demo.

Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes exited ABC Studios in 2018 after more than 10 years with the network, opting for a multiyear deal with Netflix.
