A CBS series that returns for its third season later this month will have a new name. The series previously known as “48 Hours: NCIS” has been officially rebranded as “NCIS: The Cases They Can’t Forget.”
The network announced that the show will return Wednesday, May 29, with a two-hour premiere. Rocky Carroll, who plays NCIS Director Leon Vance on the scripted series “NCIS,” returns to host the true-crime program.
The series examines the same types of cases that have inspired episodes of the scripted drama. In the season three premiere, “Road Map to Murder,” NCIS agents take viewers inside the case of a young Navy officer murdered after using an ATM.
CBS also announced that the true-crime series “Whistleblower,” with Alex Ferrer hosting, returns for its second season on Friday, May 24. “Chicago PD: Breaking the Code of Silence,” the show’s season two premiere episode, features Ferrer interviewing a whistleblower who exposed corrupt officers who stole from drug dealers and planted drugs on innocent people.
