A new broadcast talk show/comedy hybrid premiering in a few weeks announced today that host Fred Savage will be joined by comedian Taylor Tomlinson as co-host, with L.A.-based Best Coast to be the house band.

The show, Fox’s “What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage,” is billed as a real aftershow focusing on a fictional TV drama series, “The Flare.” Among its multiple segments, the talk show will feature “authentic” sit-down celebrity interviews.

The non-existent drama series behind the show, “The Flare,” is based on fictional author TJ Whitford’s sci-fi book series “The Moon is the Sun at Night,” which has been a favorite of Fred Savage’s since childhood, according to the premise behind the aftershow.

“What Just Happened?!” premieres Sunday, June 30, on Fox.
