The legal problems are mounting for Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey, who already faces a criminal charge in connection with an alleged assault in 2016. The AP reports that Spacey has been hit with a lawsuit over the same alleged incident.
“The lawsuit filed Wednesday seeks unspecified damages for ‘severe and permanent mental distress and emotional injuries,'” the AP reports. “The accusation was first brought in 2017 by former Boston TV anchor Heather Unruh, who said Spacey got her then 18-year-old son drunk and sexually assaulted him at the Club Car, a restaurant and bar on Nantucket where the teen worked as a busboy.”
Spacey has denied groping the teen, and pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and battery in January.
Spacey has won two Oscars, for “The Usual Suspects” in 1996 and “American Beauty” in 2000. He has lost a number of acting jobs, including being booted off the Netflix drama series “House of Cards,” since various allegations of sexual impropriety began surfacing.
