Opening of Motion Picture Museum Delayed

Jun 20, 2019  •  Post A Comment

In the latest in a series of delays that have plagued the planned Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Deadline reports that the museum’s opening has been delayed yet again — to 2020 this time.

The museum, which has been under construction in the historic former May Company building at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, now won’t be opening until sometime after the Oscars on Feb. 9, 2020. A specific opening date has not been set.

The museum was previously scheduled to open this fall.

The report notes that when the project was first announced in 2012 it was looking to open in 2017. Since then a number of other target dates have come and gone.
