Fans of Seth MacFarlane’s Fox space series “The Orville” — think “Star Trek” with one-liners — won’t get to see the Dark Horse comic book adaptation of the show in all its glory until next month, but The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision published an exclusive preview today that reveals what the comics will be like. Click here to see the first few pages.

“The four-issue series will consist of two stories set between the first and second seasons of the Fox TV show, which follows the crew of the eponymous starship as they explore deep space 400 years in the future,” THR notes. “David A. Goodman, showrunner for ‘The Orville,’ will write the comic book, with art from newcomer David Cabeza and colorist Michael Atiyeh.”

The report notes that the comic book series is due to debut July 17 and will continue monthly. The first storyline is “New Beginnings,” with the second storyline, “The Word of Avis,” due to launch in September’s third issue.
