A report released Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner reveals that the death of Disney Channel actor Cameron Boyce was caused by epilepsy, confirming what had been widely suspected.

As we reported previously, Boyce, who appeared on Disney Channel’s “Jesse” from 2011-2015 and was also featured in the three “Descendants” movies, died July 6. He was 20.

The coroner’s report called it a “sudden, unexpected death in epilepsy.”

“The L.A. County M.E.’s report also says Cameron did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system … except for Keppra — which is an epilepsy medication,” TMZ reports, adding: “Cameron’s offical cause of death was deferred on his death certificate until the medical examiner’s office could complete its investigation. The report says the 20-year-old developed non-traumatic epilepsy about 3 years ago … and had ‘several major seizures’ over the years.”

After suffering the fatal seizure on July 6, Boyce reportedly died in his sleep.

“Our sources told us his roommate found him unresponsive, and when paramedics arrived they could not revive him,” TMZ reports. “He was pronounced dead at the scene.”
