The end of the world arrived quickly for one prophetically titled comedy series, which had the plug pulled after just one season. Breaking the news late last week at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Starz announced the cancellation of “Now Apocalypse.”

Deadline quotes Jeff Hirsch, Starz COO, leading off the network’s TCA session with the news. Said Hirsch: “It was a great show, it was a great experiment for us, but we have made the decision not to bring it back.”

Deadline adds: “To drum up interest in ‘Now Apocalypse,’ Starz made the entire first season available across its non-linear platforms at launch, and made the premiere episode available for free on a slew of sites, including Starz.com and Starz YouTube channel.”

The show starred Avan Jogia, Kelli Berglund, Beau Mirchoff and Roxane Mesquida.
