Following the death of 20-year-old actor Cameron Boyce, one of the stars of Disney’s “Descendants” TV movies, the company has canceled a red carpet premiere event for “Descendants 3,” TMZ reports. Instead, Disney will make a charitable donation in honor of Boyce, who died after suffering an epileptic seizure.
“Disney tells us the company will make a donation in Cameron’s name to the Thirst Project … a nonprofit that helps deliver clean water to communities around the world,” TMZ reports. “Cameron helped raise more than $30k for that organization … one that was close to his heart.”
The report quotes a statement from Disney saying: “We are proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are canceling the red carpet premiere event for ‘Descendants 3’ scheduled for July 22 and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed. Thank you for understanding.”
Disney also noted that it will dedicate the telecast of “Descendants 3” to Boyce’s memory.
Boyce played Carlos, the son of Cruella De Ville, in the “Descendants” films.
