A new comedy series starring Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps has received the green light from Netflix. The streamer announced Tuesday it has ordered “The Upshaws,” a multicamera comedy centering on a working-class Africian American family in Indiana.
Regina Hicks is set as showrunner and executive producer. Sykes, a 2019 Emmy nominee for variety special and writing for a variety special for “Wanda Sykes: Not Normal,” will star, executive produce and serve as co-showrunner. Epps will star and executive produce.
Dan Spilo, Page Hurwitz and Niles Kirchner are also executive producers.
