A challenging new TV series has the seemingly noble goal of creating a “pain index” — the ultimate guide to measuring pain — an undertaking that may be meant to benefit humankind, but can be difficult to watch. (See clip below.)
The show is History’s “Kings of Pain,” which premieres Nov. 12. The series tracks the activities of wildlife biologist Adam Thorn and professional animal handler Rob “Caveman” Alleva as they allow themselves to be bitten and stung by some of the most dangerous animals in the world in an effort to create a complete and comprehensive pain index that the producers say will ultimately help save lives.
The one-hour nonfiction series is set for an eight-episode run on History.
