Celebrity Chef Dies

A restaurateur and TV chef who was seen on a number of cooking shows in the U.S. and in his native Britain has died. Gary Rhodes died Tuesday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, according to media reports. He had lived in Dubai since 2011.

Rhodes reportedly suffered a sudden illness during a break from filming a new television series. He was 59.

Rhodes was known for his love of British cuisine and ingredients, and for his spiked hairstyle. He was seen on “MasterChef USA” and on the British “MasterChef” and “Hell’s Kitchen” shows as well as his own U.K. program, “Rhodes Around Britain.”
