Former KYW-TV newscaster Alycia Lane is suing the Philadelphia station for defamation and damage to her reputation, claiming the station exploited her personal life for publicity, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Lane was fired earlier this year after being arrested in New York City and accused of hitting a police officer. She has also involved in other embarrassing incidents, some of which might been the result of leaks from her personal E-mail account. Her former co-anchor is being investigated for reading her E-mails. The lawsuit traces her trouble to 2004, when the station sent her to tape an episode “Dr. Phil” about failed relationships as part of a publicity campaign. Afterward she begged the stations not to run it, but according to the suit, it ran anyway making her life “fodder for tabloid media coverage,” says the paper, citing the complaint.
